About Our Department

The Capitola Community Services & Recreation Department serves residents by providing programs and services that keep our City fun, safe and enhance well-being in the community. The diverse range of programs and services offer something to every member of the Community.

 

Youth Programs:

During the school year the department provides the Afterschool Rec Club hosted at New Brighton Middle School. Students from Main St Elementary, Soquel Elementary and New Brighton Middle School can enjoy an enriching afterschool program. During the Summer Camp Capitola offers program to ages 4 to 16 and is an excellent way to stay active and enjoy a summer filled with fun and friends. The Junior Guard program teaches fitness and ocean safety to ages 6 to 16.

 

Classes:

The department provides fitness and education opportunities for Adults and Youth out of the community center. Classes are an opportunity to learn something new in a welcoming community environment.

 

Events:

In conjunction with the Art & Cultural Commission the department produces the Twilight Concerts, Art at the Beach show, Movies at the Beach and Plein Air during the summer season. The department also provides the community with Food Truck Fridays in Monterey Park and Parent’s Night Out at the Community Center.

 

Beach Safety:

The Capitola Lifeguard Service provides beach safety operation from the end of May to October. Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend lifeguard are on duty 7 days a week from 10am to 6pm and then on weekend until the end of October.

 

Facilities:

The community can reserve a space in the park or rent out the Community Center to host birthday parties or other gatherings. The sport fields and courts are available for team practice or games rental at both Jade St Park and Monterey Park.

 

Sports:

Offers Spring and Summer Capitola Adult CoEd Softball league.
