View Election Campaign Filings
The State of California requires most candidates or groups that solicit donations and spend money related to an election to file forms allowing the public to see where they are getting and spending their money. In an effort to both make the process easier for local committees to file and for the public to have access to this information, the Capitola City Council passed an ordinance in August 2018 implementing electronic campaign filing.

The first filing deadline for most committees was September 27, for the period from July 1 through September 22, 2018. The next deadline was October 25 for the period from September 23 through October 20. And while Capitola voters limited candidates from accepting donations of more than $200, there is no limit on donations to measure committees. Contributions of more than $1,000 by a single source must be reported within 24 hours of receipt.
