City of Capitola Advisory Bodies
Who Are Board, Commission, and Committee Members?
The City Council appoints local residents to serve on City advisory bodies. These volunteers are passionate about their community and represent a variety of interests and backgrounds. Education and/or expertise in certain areas may be welcome but is not required for appointment to an advisory body.
What do Board, Commission, and Committees Do?
Boards, commissions, and committees assist and advise Capitola's City Council in formulating policy. These advisory bodies provide the Council with recommendations in making decisions, and the City Council votes to set final adopted policies.
Youth Participation on Advisory Bodies
The City of Capitola is happy to welcome local students to participate in local government! There are opportunities for youth to participate as non-voting members of several of its advisory bodies. Applicants must live within the Soquel Union Elementary School District or attend Soquel, Harbor, or Aptos High School, and be accompanied to the meetings by an adult if under age 18. Youth members are non-voting and have one-year terms (members can reapply for additional terms).
How to Apply
Applications are accepted year-round. Current vacancies can be found by viewing the "Vacancy Notice" at the bottom of this webpage. If you prefer a hard copy, you can print the application found at the bottom of this page, under "supporting documents". Completed applications should be sent or delivered to the City Clerk's office at City Hall.
