Wharf to Reopen January 9

High surf on January 1, 2020, damaged two pilings on the Capitola Wharf. The two piles were located underneath the small boat hoist and the damage has severely compromised the structural stability of the wharf in this area. The wharf was closed to the public following the damage. 

The Wharf will open on Thursday, Janaury 9. Emergency repairs to stabalize and cordon off the failed area of the wharf have been completed and businesses will also be open on January 9. These emergency repairs are temporary, and plans for permanent repairs are still being developed. It is anticipated that the hoist will be out of operation for at least one month. The future additional repairs will require closure of the wharf.
