Capitola Mall Community Forum: June 11

The public is encouraged to attend the upcoming Community Forum on Capitola Mall redevelopment! Merlone Geier Partners, property owners of the Mall, is hosting a public forum at the former Sears site on June 11 at 6 p.m to share their concept for the Capitola Mall and to hear your feedback.  Come hear a progress report on current Mall redevelopment plans and provide your input.

FAQ: Does the City have an application for mall redevelopment?

A: The City does not have an application for the mall redevelopment project.  In 2018, the Sears site was purchased by the mall owner.  The mall owner has been working on the initial planning for a future application.  The representative of the mall presented to the Capitola Planning Commission on May 2 and to the City Council on May 9.  They gave an overview on the planning done to date including the results of the 2018 survey and new direction since the purchase of the Sears building.  Videos of those meetings may be accessed here.
