The National Tsunami Warning Center has cancelled the tsunami warning for the California Coast. (December 5, 2024, at 12:00 PM)
Update as of 12/5/2024 at 11 AM:
Capitola residents may have received a Tsunami Warning to their mobile devices on December 5, 2024, at approximately 10:50 AM.
The City of Capitola is not currently in a warning zone. The National Weather Service reported the likely affected area to be Davenport, CA and north to the California/Oregon border.
In an effort to remain prepared, we encourage the public to remain aware of current emergency notifications systems. Please stay away from the coastline, including the Capitola Wharf and Capitola Beach and Village.
Emergency responders are monitoring the situation closely and are prepared to respond if necessary.
