Candidate Information Night

The 2024 General Election is Tuesday, November 5! The City of Capitola will have two City Council seats up for election on the ballot this year. If you’re interested in learning how to run for City Council, please join us at a Candidate Information Event on June 17th at 6 PM at Capitola City Hall (Community Room). The event will be co-hosted by the Capitola City Clerk and the Santa Cruz County Elections Department. You’ll learn how Capitola’s elections are administered and what is required from candidates to file all the necessary paperwork to be on the ballot.

Capitola’s City Council is made up of 5 Capitola residents who are passionate about their community and dedicated to Capitola’s future. In order to run for this office, you must be a resident, 18 years of age, and registered to vote within Capitola. The City Council works together to establish laws, approve the City’s operating budget, and provide direction through the City Manager and staff. The City Council usually meets twice a month and receives a monthly stipend.
